About Me

I’ve had a successful career in electronics as an engineer for some 40 years, but my journey to becoming a self-published children’s book author began in my school days, where I enjoyed assignments in English language lessons.

During lockdown of 2020, I pursued that lifelong desire to write and discovered my passion for creating children’s books. Inspired by the birth of my granddaughter, my debut work “Pet Talk” is not just a story but a legacy.

Despite initial challenges in securing a traditional publishing deal, my determination led me to the path of self-publishing. The book now stands as a vibrant addition to children’s literature.

I recognise the importance of sharing my work with a wider audience so that it gains the recognition it surely deserves. I genuinely do appreciate you, the reader who buys my books.

Promoting STEM in Education

Through visiting schools and giving talks I discovered, almost by accident, that my work in writing children’s books has relevance in modern education. There is a key phrase that I keep hearing “STEM” which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics.

I had noticed myself in some forty years or more of electronics engineering, that there were no female engineers or technicians in any of the companies that I worked for.

With this in the back of my mind, I decided that the hero (heroine) of my book should be a girl, to hopefully give female readers the inkling that maybe they too would one day like to seek an Engineering or Science based career. Having also recently become a grandfather to a girl, I wanted Cassie to have the options that may otherwise have escaped my generations budding female engineers, scientists, and mathematicians.

I further found out through liaising with schools that things are starting to change, and schools are now actively helping children and encouraging their growth towards these key sectors of industry and research.
